How They're Made
Southwood urns are hand-turned from a blank of solid wood, then hand-sanded and polished to a lustrous finish.  No stain is used. The wood's natural characteristics and varying grains and colors are special for every cremation urn.  The darker colored wood is known as "Heartwood"- the lighter wood that appears in some of our urns is "Sapwood".   We have urns made from Mesquite wood, Brown Ebony wood, Lignum Vitae wood, and our newest wood, and Osage Orange wood (limited).
